Each airline may have distinct policies regarding pet size allowances, required health documentation, and other considerations.
Checked-In Cabin
The “In Cabin” option for pet transportation provides a convenient solution for small pets, typically under 7-8 kilograms accompany their owners in the passenger cabin. Pet owners must adhere to size and weight documentation requirements, including providing health certificates and meeting vaccination standards. Rabies Titer Test
The Rabies Titer Test for pet export is a specific blood test that measures the rabies antibody levels in a pet’s blood, often required for international travel. Many countries have strict regulations regarding the importation of pets to prevent the spread of rabies. The test ensures that the pet has been adequately vaccinated against rabies and has developed sufficient immunity.
Here are the main points regarding the Rabies Titer Test for pet export:
- Requirement: Many countries require a rabies titer test to confirm that a pet has been vaccinated and has adequate rabies antibodies before allowing entry.
- Timing: The test is usually performed at least 30 days after vaccination against rabies and must be done at an accredited laboratory.
- Results: The test results generally specify whether the antibody levels meet the country’s requirement (commonly a minimum of 0.5 IU/mL).
- Documentation: Test results may need to be included in the pet’s health certificate and presented at the border or customs in the destination country.
- Validity: Some countries have specific time frames for which the test results are considered valid, so it’s important to check the regulations of the destination country.
Always check the specific import regulations of the destination country, as requirements can vary widely.
